What Cadettes Do

Making true-blue friends, saving the planet, standing up against stereotypes, using their team power for the greater good—that’s what being a Girl Scout Cadette is all about.

Cadettes blaze new trails in the wilderness, write and direct their own movies, take the stage for public speaking, make delicious meals from around the world, and pick up tools to do some woodworking. Their curiosity and imagination lead the way as they try all kinds of new experiences.

As a Cadette, she might:

Leadership in Action

Cadettes can earn a Leader in Action (LiA) award by assisting a Brownie troop on the National Leadership Journey that correlates with the Journey they are working on. (Some examples would be World of Girls and MEdia or the Brownie and Cadette Think Like an Engineer Journey.) There are specific LiA award requirements for the three original Journey series: It's Your World—Change It!, It's Your Planet—Love It!, and It's Your Story—Tell It!.

To earn a LiA, Cadettes share their organizational skills, use one of their special talents, teach Brownies something important from their Journey, and reflect on the experience. For more information about LiA, Cadettes can network with the adult volunteers guiding Brownie troops in the Girl Scout community.

Program Aide

Cadettes earn this by completing a LIA Journey award, going through leadership training and working with younger girls.
